In the topic, you will see some of the basic steps on how to go through the NJDOT SLD Video Log . 

 

Instructions to Pan Through NJDOT SLD Video Log

 

 

Step 1: Select the route you would like to view

  • On the left-hand side of your screen you will see the option to select which category you would like view.
    • this includes counties, interstate, and 500 routes
  • You must then select which SRI you want to view. This will also be shown in the left side panel
  • The SRI will be broken up in segments. Depending on the route, various segments will appear for selection. 

 

Step 2: Panning around the Video Frame 

  • You can zoom in and out of the map frame by either scrolling with your mouse or using the zoom in and zoom out keys in the upper left corner of the frame 
    •  
  • You can make the frame full screen with the key underneath the zoom keys
    •  
  • Using the mouse, you can click and drag in the video frame to pan the viewpoint around the van. This view goes the full 360 degrees
    • Once you change the camera angle, the video will play in that angle 




  • While letting the video frame play, you have the option to watch in 3 modes: Fast, Medium, and Slow. This option will be in the tool bar at the top of the video frame

  • There is a play forward and play backward in the tool bar. To activate either play action you click the tool. The play button will then turn to a stop. To stop the play, just click the stop tool. 
    • When the video plays, it will be in a series of images.
    •  
  • There is also the option to skip through the video frame by image, there are arrows in the tool bar where you can skip to the next frame or to the very end/beginning of the video log.
    •  
  • As you play/scroll through the video, your milepost along the route will update in the tool bar as well    
  • Above the Video Frame you can choose whether you want the Northbound Video or Southbound Video. Just click on either side to pick. 
    •  
  • The Video Log also has the print feature where you can export a PDF file of the video frame. In this PDF you will get a screenshot of the video frame, The SRI, Print Date, and attribute information such as county, direction, speed, etc. This key is in the top right corner of the video frame.
  • The video log also has a link feature called SLD that takes you to the sheet of the image you are currently on

 

Step 3: Panning around the map feature  

  • Zoom in and out of the map by placing your mouse over the map and scrolling in and out.
  • You can also zoom in and out using the zoom keys in the top left corner of the map

  • Click and drag to pan to different sections of the map 
  • This map does not have a “recenter” tool, when searching through the map be aware of your camera location 
  • You can see where the Camera/Van is on the map by the green circle. This circle will move with the video showing the vans movement.  
    •    
  • The "Streets" drop down allows you to change the background or basemap of the map frame. This will be in the top right corner of the map section. The default basemap will be the "streets" layer
  • The Video log map feature also has another tab to show you the diagram version of the map. Click on the “Diagram” tab to open this feature

  • There is also an attribute section above the map feature 


  • You can navigate to a route by changing the URL Options to specify an SRI, Milepost, and Direction:
  •   https://njsld.org/NJDOT/SLD/VideoLog/sri/milepost/direction
    •  sri is the NJDOT SRI designation.
    • milepost is the milepost.
    •  direction is the roadway direction where P = Primary and S = Secondary.
